PortCastelló traffic grows by 12.3% in the first quarter of the year

PortCastelló closed the first quarter of the year growing 12.3% compared to the same period of the previous year in freight traffic and recorded 5,413,135 tons. It thus continues its path of growth, in line with what happened in 2021 .

This figure, released by PortCastelló, is due to the good performance Phone Number List of solid bulk, which increased by 43.4% in the accumulated amount, reaching 2,670,823 tons. On the contrary, liquid bulk traffic decreased by 1.9%, totaling 2,418,960 tons, and general merchandise traffic decreased by 34.6%, with 314,667 tons.

With these data, the type of traffic with the greatest weight so far this year in the port of Castellón is solid bulk, which represents 49.4%, followed by liquid bulk, which represents 44.8%, and Finally, general merchandise, which represents 5.8% of the total.

The most important goods moved in the port of Castellón are, in this order, crude oil; feldspar; clays; fuel oil; gasoline; kaolin and coke. Of them, those that grow the most in traffic until March are kaolin (91%), feldspar (53.6%) and clays (43.6%).

The importance of Ukraine for PortCastelló
The main countries with which PortCastelló maintains commercial relations are Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Canada, Libya and Morocco.

The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rafa Simó, has assessed the data positively, although he has referred to the effect that the Russian invasion of Ukraine may have on the port of Castellón.

This country occupied third position in PortCastelló in 2021, accounting for 8.4% of the total movement, mostly related to the import of clays. Russia was sixth in importance for the port of Castellón, and accounted for 5.6% of total traffic.
