A private branch exchange (PBX) is a telephone system that allows businesses to make and receive calls internally and externally. PBX systems typically have a central switchboard that connects all of the phones in a business, and they can also provide a variety of o other features , such as call forwarding, voicemail, and conference calling.

One of the key features of a PBX system is the way it handles phone numbers. In a traditional phone system, each phone has its own unique phone number. This means that if you want to Photo Editor Service Price  call someone in your office, you have to dial theirs. entire phone number. However, with a PBX system, you can use extensions instead of full phone numbers

Using extensions has a number of advantages. First, it makes it easier for people to remember how to call each other. Second, it can help to reduce the number of wrong numbers that are dialed. Third, it can free up phone numbers for external use.

When a call comes into a PBX system, the switchboard first checks to see if the caller is dialing an extension. If the caller is dialing an extension, the switchboard will route the call to the appropriate phone. If the caller is dialing a full phone number, the switchboard will check to see if that number is a local number. If the number is a local number, the switchboard will route the call directly to the phone. If the number is not a local number, the switchboard will connect the call to the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

PBX systems can be a great way to improve the efficiency and productivity of a business. By using extensions, businesses can make it easier for people to communicate with each other, and they can also free up phone numbers for external use.

The switchboard in a PBX system is responsible for routing calls to the appropriate phones.
Extensions are short codes that are used to identify individual phones on a PBX system.
PBX systems can provide a variety of other features, such as call forwarding, voicemail, and conference calling.
